Is the BMW logo an aircraft propeller, or is it the bavarian flag.

Believe it’s a Bavarian flag

It’s not the aircraft thing, that was debunked a while back, it’s something to do with showing the colors of the Free State of Bavaria.

I second the Bavarian flag. IIRC I saw that in a documentary about BMW.

I always believed it was the aircraft propeller, but Google’s first page result seems it’s up for some debate.

BMW corporate maintains its for the Bavarian flag.
The spinning propeller thing just comes from a series of advertisements they ran in the late ‘20s/early ‘30s.

It’s the Bavarian flag. The propeller part is just serendipity .

Its from the Bavarian flag. The propeller angle was a happy little coincidence for them. Incidnetly I’m sure we have Finding Forester for adding to the confusion.

I always thought it was to make sure everyone in traffic knew they were inferior...
